Bomas of Kenya is a cultural tour of Kenya’s major ethnic groups, such as Mijikenda, Luo, Taita, Embu, Maasai, Kikuyu, Kamba, Kalenjin, Luhya, Kisii, Kuria; among others.
The word “boma” means “homestead”, and here you find replicates of traditional villages that provide interesting insight about each tribe’s societal structure, crafts, music, dancing and much more.
The word Bomas derived from “Boma” a Swahili word for enclosed homestead and there are now many different “Bomas”.

Established by the government in 1971 as a subsidiary company of Kenya Tourist Development Corporation as a tourist attraction.
It also wanted to preserve, maintain and promote rich and diverse cultural values of various tribal groups of Kenya.
Some of the dances to experience include the Masai Eunoto dance, the Kikuyu circumcision dance, Coastal Sengenya, Swahili Taarab, Nubi Dholuka and the spectacular Chuka drummers among others.
